Public bug reported:
My system sometimes freezes under heavy load.
Symptoms are:
- The cursor can still be moved.
- The system is completely unresponsive otherwise.
- The screen is not updated (except for cursor movement).
- Pressing Control-Alt-Backspace does not work.
- Pressing Control-Alt-F1 does not work.
- Pressing Control-Alt-Delete does not work.
- Magic-SysRq still works.
- Alt-SysRq-E causes the screen to be messed up.
Possible causes that come to mind:
- High CPU load.
- High memory load.
- Overheating.
- Hardware problems (unlikely, worked flawlessly under gutsy).
