Hi, Thanks for your comment. I've read the documents that you provided, and have done a few more tests.
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, In the GNOME Desktop menu, I selected System/Preferences/Screensaver to bring up Screensaver Preferences. I selected the Substrate screensaver. The preferences window initially showed Substrate with a white background, but when I clicked 'Preview', it was shown with a black background. I checked that the substrate app was being launched without extra arguments and it was just being run as 'substrate -root'. I kept the Screensaver Preferences window open and waited for the screensaver to activate after a timeout. When it did this, sometimes it had a black background and sometimes a white background. 2. the behavior you expected, .. I'd expect a white background unless I'd specifically requested another. 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). See '1'. Additional information: The problem does not seem to be specific to a particular X driver as I have tried 'nv' and 'vesa' with screen depths 16 and 24. I do not currently use the proprietary 'nvidia' module because it crashes my system. My graphics card is a PCI Nvidia GeForce 6600. ** Attachment added: "Screensaver settings showing substrate with black background" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14362483/substrate-blackbg.png -- gnome-screensaver hacks requiring white background are using black background instead https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227244 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
