Public bug reported:

Hi everyone. I just upgraded Dell Inspirion 1420 notebook from from Ubuntu
7.10 to 8.04 and now my sound is not working. When I click on the volume
control on the taskbar, I get the message: "No volume control GStreamer plugins
and/or devices found." Also the manual controls on the notebook are disabled.
When I typed in sudo /etc/hotplug/isapnp.rc I get "command not found." Next I
tried ls /sys/bus/pnp/devices and got the following:
00:00 00:02 00:04 00:06 00:08 00:0a
00:01 00:03 00:05 00:07 00:09 00:0b
The last thing I tried was typing in this: cat /sys/bus/pnp/devices/*/id and it
returned the following:
PNP0a03
PNP0f13
PNP0303
PNP0b00
PNP0800
PNP0c01
PNP0200
PNP0c04
PNP0103
PNP0c01
PNP0c01
PNP0c01
PNP0c01
All of the above I read in the other bug reports to try and give you as much
information as I can. If there is anything else you would like me to try, let
me know, but please be specific. I'm just getting my toes wet using the
terminal. :)
