In frustration, I purchased a MSI NVIDIA GeForce NX8600GT. To my horror,
this made no difference.

Driver works as "NV" (hence no 3d)
but not as "NVIDIA"

I have tried everything I and many others on the web can think of.
Nothing works, The new NVIDIA driver is a dud!

Is there some way to revert the system back to 7.10 (which worked fine)?
I cant afford the time or money this 8.04 upgrade has cost me.

Thanks Ralph Richardson.
