I did try your suggestion, but unfortunately, it did not help. in fact i don't get any sound when pressing the test button next to the option you suggested. What i did since i really needed to watch video, is uninstall totem and install mplayer in place of it. That worked without any other modifications. If you require me to test something else i would reinstall it and try your suggestions.
