Public bug reported:
I'm using Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04.
Since i have passed from 7.10 to 8.04 i have had some problems with my dvd
reader/writer Philips DVDR1628K.
In 7.10 it gave me no problems: wrote and read DVDs giving no troubles.
Now (on 8.04) it gives many errors. I tried to see a video-DVD, but it didn't
started (even if I had installed all necessary packages). I tried to read the
folders of the dvd; it visualized the two folders (AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS) but
when i used "ls" into the folder "VIDEO_TS" it gave me "I/O error".
I tried to read many other data-DVDs: it doesn't mount some, some others aren't
recognized by the system (it seems as if no DVD is inside), other are
displayed, but without some folders (which are displayed in red letters and
black background in the terminal, and if i try to get into them i get a I/O
error).
I tried even with some CDs: audio CDs start, but the music is corrupted,
data-CDs aren't starting.
I hope I've given enough info... If is needed more, just ask!
Thanks
