This actually turned out to be a kernel issue, in that it required
changes to some kernel modules to support this chipset.

Subject: Regarding LP bug #221158 Cantiga gfx support missing

Hi Bryce,

This is Yong from Intel and I work with Rolla on all the Ubuntu enabling
work on Intel platforms. I will be covering Rolla for the next two
months as she will be on sabbatical during that period of time. I just
noticed there is a bug filed on launchpad about Cantiga gfx on Montevina
platform and you also forwarded the bug to freedesktop. As our upstream
developer replied, there are two kernel modules that need to be
backported to enable Cantiga gfx. Both of them made into upstream kernel
in 2.6.25 while Hardy is based on 2.6.24. I want to let you know that we
are working on it right now and both of them have been backported to
2.6.24. We will push to code the Hardy kernel tree soon after our full
validation which is underway right now. So pls be patient for a few more
days;-) I can assure you that we are aware of the issue and we will get
it fixed.

Another question is that we really want you or the bug reporter to mark
this bug as a private bug as this is related to unreleased platform
according our agreement with Canonical. Montevina is scheduled to be
released around the end of June and we are also backporting LAN and
wireless drivers now in addition to Cantiga gfx so that Montevina will
be fully enabled by then as driver update for Hardy.

If you have any questions or concerns for this bug and for anything in
the next two months or even later, pls let me know and I will be more
than happy to help.

Regards
-Yong
