I can reproduce the error too, which is quite strange because the
version of libnotify included in Hardy and Gutsy (at least after some
updates) are exactly the same: 0.4.4-3build1
I was doing some other checks and no clue yet, but here you are the results:
- dbus-monitor output while using notify-send: exactly the same (so it looks
it's not a dbus problem)
- Execute the following command: notify-send "Rock & Roll"
- Gutsy: it doesn't work, it shows an empty summary
- Hardy: it works perfectly
- Execute the following command: notify-send "Rock & Roll"
- Gutsy: it works perfectly, showing "&" instead of "&"
- Hardy: it doesn't work, since it shows a "Rock & Roll" summary
- Pango versions:
- Gutsy: 1.18.3-0ubuntu1
- Hardy: 1.20.1-1
So, I'm beginning to think if it could be a problem with pango, but I'm
not completely sure. BTW, another friend of mine is trying the same
problem with Debian lenny, which bundles Pango 1.20.2-2 (newer version
than Hardy's), and got the same behaviour got with Ubuntu Gutsy, so
perhaps it was a bug in Pango and it was fixed in that version... but
who knows, I'm not too confident with that yet.
So... any idea?
