I can confirm this as well.... The crash only happens when you give a
process a lower nice value (requiring root rights) , not when you renice
it to a higher value (which can be done without root rights). It seems
like there's a problem asking for the user password for the renice,
because my taskbar does show a "administrative task" entry, the admin
window that should ask the password never appears though, and the gnome-
system-monitor closes.
