I confirm the bug even now. Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit, with the 2.6.24-17-generic
kernel.
MB is Asus P5B Plus, the error is -16, Ubuntu detects no sound cards:

I tried using acpi=off option, but the system won't boot at all. So
there must be another solution.
p.s. I dont know how to recompile the kernel, dont want to use 2.6.25
kernel because I am afraid of missing dependencies and problems.
