0.5.4 is now in intrepid and I can verify that it builds and works as
expected on hardy (I backported it using prevu).
I believe this should be fixed by an SRU.
SRU justification: the current version in hardy doesn't work at all.
How to reproduce the error: aptitude install googleearth-package;
make-googleearth-package
Suggested fix: sync 0.5.4 from intrepid, the changes between 0.5.2 and 0.5.4
are quite small:
googleearth-package (0.5.4) unstable; urgency=low
* Support Google Earth 4.3
* We have to revert to using LD_LIBRARY_PATH instead of ld-linux.so.2,
otherwise Google Earth 4.3 can't work. There isn't any workaround
known at this time.
* Revert --quiet being the default. This totally messes up being able
to get error messages. The default verboseness problem is postponed
for a new major version release.
