I can confirm this: kscd and any other program starting an audio cdrom to playback via audio patch cable, e.g. cdplay (from cdtools package) is affected.
cd playback stops. I could reproduce kio_audiocd from kdemultimedia-kio-plugins being responsible, when shutting down itself. Please read http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122524, where I reported more stuff to KDE devel bugs page. Hope this helps to track the problem.
