I have compiz running with nVidia proprietary driver.
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600 GT (rev a1)
My machine is AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 but I have ordinary kernel.

X crashes when Gwenview switched to fullscreen, but only when:
1) using Gnome/Compiz (in failsafe Gnome or Openbox - no effect);
2) when there is a picture to show (can switch to fullscreenin directory
without pictures - no effect).
Attaching part of strace from gwenview: it receives SIGHUP.
