Well... main.log is 15 days old. It is still from my upgrade from dapper
to edgy. I'll include the relevant parts (the latest parts) from apt.log
instead. That one was updated on my latest run. The output from apt-get
dist-upgrade is this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -s
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  startup-tasks system-services ubuntu-minimal upstart upstart-compat-sysv
  upstart-logd
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  sysvinit
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 6 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Remv ubuntu-minimal [1.29]
Remv startup-tasks [0.2.7-7]
Remv system-services [0.2.7-7]
Remv upstart-logd [0.2.7-7]
Remv upstart-compat-sysv [0.2.7-7]
Remv upstart [0.2.7-7]
Inst sysvinit (2.86.ds1-14.1ubuntu16 Ubuntu:6.10/edgy)
Conf sysvinit (2.86.ds1-14.1ubuntu16 Ubuntu:6.10/edgy)

which baffles me. I only know apt-get to install extra packages or to
sort out an occasional Conflicts. The contents of apt.log should be
useful here. Update-manager's version is 0.45. Good luck with sorting
this one out!
