I get pretty much the same error when booting the 24-17 kernel after
upgrade to hardy from gutsy

[timestamp] cmd C8/00:08:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/f0 tag 0 dma 4096 in
[timestamp] Buffer I/O error on device sdb, logical block 0
[timestamp] Status {DRDY}
I can however boot into the 22-14 kernel without any issues, and the
upgrade seems to be fine, saying its 8.04
quite annoying really.
