I tried removing and re-installing iptables (again) and noticed that when it installed, some of the apt-get output was Setting up "iptables (1.3.8.0debian1-1ubuntu2)" Indicating the instalation of 1.3.8.0. However when I run iptables --version, it reports iptables v1.3.6.
