Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: nvidia-xconfig
nvidia-xconfig: version 1.0 ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Tue Jan 22 19:53:46 PST 2008
on 8.04
I needed it to recognise and use the card (MX420). At reboot, the LCD screen
only showed 'out of sync', and there was nothing I could do about it; no
Ctrl-Alt-+/-. Not even Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. Only a hard reboot and 'root' could
help the problem:
It had not respected the previous settings, and neither read EDID or DDC and set
HorizSync 30.0 - 110.0
VertRefresh 50.0 - 160.0
as well as
Modes "1600x1200" 1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
(if I am not mistaken, I changed it from there)
Any newbie would have to consider this install a 'done thing' and be
helpless, I am afraid.
No need to state, that nvidia-xconfig needs to respect the previous
setting and probably just change the driver to 'nvidia'?
