I still have this very annoying problem on my Dell D620 with Intel Core 2 Duo. Kernel is: 2.6.17-10-generic #2 SMP Fri Oct 13 15:34:39 UTC 2006 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I've unloaded acpi_sbs, battery, I've even removed the battery but still have this problem.
