Short answer; Dapper is missing the required package (rio500) to connect to the rio so there is no way to create the device apart from by hand Longer answer; I just performed a fresh install of Dapper 6.06.1. The rio500 kernel module exists and a manual modprobe appears to work. But I can't find the rio500 package to actually test device connections. I've added the unofficial repositories just in case but it isn't showing up there either. I checked http://packages.ubuntulinux.org/cgi- bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=rio500&searchon=names&subword=1&version=dapper&release=all but it looks like it isn't available under Dapper (or Edgy). It was under Breezy (which worked much better than Hoary, "dpkg-reconfigure rio500: worked in Breezy, it just didn't survive a reboot). I'll try and pull down source; either the deb source (librio500-dev) from breezy or http://sourceforge.net/projects/rio500 and see if I can do anything with that. Side note; the rioutils package is NOT appropriate -- rio500 device /dev/usb/rio500 not created under Ubuntu (Hoary) https://launchpad.net/bugs/1476 -- rio500 device /dev/usb/rio500 not created under Ubuntu (Hoary) https://launchpad.net/bugs/1476 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
