Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Installing the openoffice.org-kde package instead of the openoffice.org-
gnome package makes OpenOffice completely ignore scim. The keybinds
don't work, nor is the correct language keypresses sent to OO.o if
manually selected via the systray icon.

This is under Kubuntu 8.04 (KDE 3.5.9-0ubuntu7.2), running skim. I have
set the default input method to skim and it works in *any and all other
programs*, except OpenOffice.

A workaround is to replace the openoffice.org-kde package with the
-gnome one instead, though both the GTK_IM_MODULE and the QT_IM_MODULE
environment variables are both set to scim-bridge. With it, it correctly
reacts to keybinds, and everything works. However, this also makes
OO.o's appearance borderline unacceptable, with font corruption, missing
borders on menus, weird coloring, etc.

It likely works without issues under Ubuntu and Gnome (which obviously
prefers the -gnome package).

See attached logs for version information.
