I experience the same weirdness also in Kubuntu Hardy, with the omnibook
module and hotkey-setup 0.1-17ubuntu21.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: hotkey-setup

I don't know why, but the special key to supposed to launch the internet
browser does not work on my Toshiba Satellite M70-249 (as it is the only
one, I think it is not too bad at the end ;). All other keys just work
after I installed the omnibook module and configured the hotkeys
  configuration files:

  /usr/share/hotkey-setup/default.hk

  # Non-matched laptops
  setkeycodes e013 $KEY_WWW
  setkeycodes e014 226
  setkeycodes e077 164
  setkeycodes e012 166
  setkeycodes e039 163
  setkeycodes e074 165

  and

  /usr/share/hotkey-setup/generic.hk

  # All laptops
  # Particular settings for my Toshiba
  setkeycodes e013 $KEY_WWW
  setkeycodes e014 226
  setkeycodes e077 164
  setkeycodes e012 166
  setkeycodes e039 163
  setkeycodes e074 165

The strange thing is that when I change function to the e013 key it
works: I tried to open Amarok with the same key and it worked. Then I
tried to open the browser with the other keys, and it didn't work. I
- tried with both Firefox and Konqueror as default browser. I don't, but
- it seems that the only function that hotkey cannot call is $KEY_WWW (or
- the alternative 150, that I tried too).

The version I use is hotkey-setup 0.1-17ubuntu20 with kubuntu 7.10.

Hope this is helpful to solve the issue.

  Thanks,

  Antonio
