Please do not abuse already fixed bugs to report new problems; open a
new bug report for those instead.

If hal does not start up for you, please do the following steps and
report the results in a new bug report:

  * Upgrade to the latest Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) packages.
  * Reboot your machine, to get back to a clean state. You tried to start hal
twice (once with daemonizing, once in the foreground), and it rightfully
complained. After a clean boot, is hal running?
  * If it is not running, please do the steps on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingHal and attach the logs.
  * If it is running, it seems to be a temporary problem with the package
installation. Please describe what you did before you encountered that problem.
