Confirmed - still a problem in Hardy, and no, unfortunately, neither the
above gnome-mount thing nor the manual mount work either. When
attempting to manually mount, got the below:

mount: block device /dev/scd0 is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/scd0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

dmesg then showed:
[ 272.797344] UDF-fs: No fileset found
[ 272.854845] ISOFS: Unable to identify CD-ROM format.
[ 341.408507] UDF-fs: No fileset found
[ 341.453989] ISOFS: Unable to identify CD-ROM format.
[ 368.409030] UDF-fs: No fileset found
