See attached /var/log/syslog Just after this error got displayed, I type CTRL+ALT+F2 and Enter to get a terminal and typed the following command:
# md5sum /dev/scd0 166991d61e7c79a452b604f0d25d07f9 /dev/scd0 Which is the same checksum as seen on http://releases.ubuntu.com/8.04/MD5SUMS So once again, the CD is perfectly fine ! How come some individual packages are would be corrupt, whereas the whole CD is not ? This bug has also been reported in bug #219059 ** Attachment added: "/var/log/syslog" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14674274/syslog -- 8.04 (alternate CD) Installation step failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228416 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
