What Ubuntu version is this on?
What button to the left of the address field are you referring to? The refresh
button?
The only button that i have to the left is the home button that i can press the
rest are greyed out as they should be if you load the about:blank on a new tab
Please test this with latest Firefox-3.0 package in your version of Ubuntu.
