Public bug reported:
Whilst upgrading to edgy the gui froze whilst installing proftpd, the system
rebooted with a broken edgy install.
When I try to load the gnome environment the screen freezes on the loading bar,
no icons are displayed. If I load a failsafe gnome desktop it loads with a
message saying gnome-settings-daemon was unable to locate the address for dbus.
I have installed the KDE environment which is working fine.
