Public bug reported:

Just installed Hardy on Acer 220 Laptop -- now getting random system lockups
which must perform hard reboot to recover from. System installed with LVM/LUCK
encryption -- 2.6.24.16-generic kernel. Attempted to upgrade to
2.6.25.1-generic kernel as suggested here:
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/204996/comments/192
however LVM password no longer valid when attempting to boot into this kernel.
Lockup occurs either within minutes or hours, however on several occasions they
seem to be related to starting Firefox or Pidgin (however behavior is not
consistent). Pidgin compiled from source.

How can I help to sort out this bug, since I've seen other report
similar problems with a different kernel version.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
