Binary package hint: totem
totem movie player 2.20.0 only shows a horizontal colored line in the middle of
the black screen.
The slider at the bottom of the screen is moving from the left to the right as
if it is playing the video.
1) The Ubuntu release is 7.10
The problem started after the update to 7.10 from the previous release
