Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mplayer

MPlayer
   Version: [1.0rc2_____] Component: [streaming___]

   Platform: [PC (x86)____________] OS:Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit

Mplayer doesn't stream http internet streams in Hardy Heron
   Description:
I had been using 'mplayer -ao pcm http://wfuv.ic.llnwd.net/stream/wfuv_aac2
-ao pcm:file=some.wav'
under Gutsy Gibbon Ubuntu with no problems; I upgraded to Hardy Heron 8.04, and
now I get this error:
"MPlayer interrupted by signal 6 in module: open_stream". I also get
"Couldn't resolve name for AF_INET6" and
"*** glibc detected *** mplayer: realloc(): invalid pointer 0x00007febeca0364c
***"
I've got backtrace and memory map output as well, if this would help.
(attached)
Of note: error occurs with a simple "mplayer http://";..., however I
can play this stream with vlc.

** Affects: mplayer (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
