Do you mean that you can't access this format now or you will not be able to access it in future?
Maybe you should think about releasing a version which just uses the search engines from firefox. At least for me this would be enough. :-) The workaround I posted above works for the search engines. Don't know what happens if you try to search the history or bookmarks as I didn't try that yet.
