Hi,

Looking in to this a bit more it seems that new versions
of PolicyKit play havoc with system-tools-backends until
the dbus is restarted.

I'm wary of uploading a new version which would trigger this.
I have emailed the author about what the problem could be,
in which case we can try and fix system-tools-backends.

However, the permissions fixes are important, as I don't
think PolicyKit will work correctly without them.

The alternative to waiting, or uploading and not caring,
is to repeat what I mistakenly thought the solution
was last time, and rebuild system-tools-backends at
the same time, which would mean that most users would
get both updates at once, and not see a problem.

The last solution would be to restart system-tools-backends
from policykit's postinst, but I'm not sure that's necessarily
wise.

Any suggestions welcome,

Thanks,

James
