This doesn't just occur in installing kino; I do not have kino installed
# apt-cache policy kino
kino:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 1.1.1-1ubuntu2
Version table:
1.1.1-1ubuntu2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
I get this error when doing the following install:
# aptitude install ncurses-dev kernel-package
# lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04
