After installation the UUID is used. I am wondering if when you change a drive name, Windows modifies the partition UUID (cannot check it right now). Can you plese compare the UUID within c:\ubuntu\disks\boot\grub\menu.lst with the one in /dev/disk/by-uuid/ ?
