As a side note, I have tried both following drivers : /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/ubuntu/wireless/iwlwifi/iwlwifi/compatible/iwl4965.ko /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/updates/wireless/iwlwifi/iwlwifi/compatible/iwl4965.ko (the second one is not installed by default but comes from linux-backports-modules-2.6.24-17-generic)
