Public bug reported: Situation:
I'm having a hard time with my laptop (an Acer TravelMate 3200). This laptop has been running Ubuntu from day one (back from the Breezy days). However, it just doesn't like Hardy. Symptoms: Just a random variety of freezes, hangs, lockups (sometimes the cursor survives but everything else dies, sometimes the cursor dies too, sometimes i can alt+sysrq+b, sometimes i cannot). ctrl+alt+backspacing X does not work, and neither do every ctrl+alt+fX combo. Fedora 9 fails as well (2.6.25 kernel). I have also tried Debian Sid with a few kernels. Out of the lot (2.6.22, 2.6.24, 2.6.25) only 2.6.22 works. I find it easier to reproduce when I connect/disconnect a usb keyboard on the laptop, while running X. sometimes it happens with absolutely no interaction (e.g. boot up the laptop and leave it on the gdm prompt). As I mentioned above, this doesn't seem to be an Ubuntu-specific issue, but I'm posting this here because: 1. I just love launchpad :) 2. Ubuntu is the distro I'd like to run on this laptop 3. Hopefully this will get more attention and/or be forwarded to upstream when the problem has been spotted. Let me know if there anything that you'd like me to attach (lshw, lspci etc etc). Thanks for reading. /antonis ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- 2.6.24 kernel random freezes on acer laptop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236335 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
