I have an Acer Aspire 5920 ZD1 with GMA965 (X3100). Loaded Hardy clean
on it. Got an external LG 22' LCD Screen. When I boot with the external
screen attached, the initial "Ubuntu" screen is shown. However it all
disappears when X starts.

The <fn>-<F5> key does not work. Screen Resolution shows the external
monitor correctly and also allows me to select it with the right
resolution. However apply does not work. I can sense the LCD switch
between Analog and Digital back and forth, but nothing.

The solution I use is to select the external TFT which is detected and
visible in Screen Resolution. Click on apply and then <ctrl> <Alt>
<backspace>. Now when X restarts I see the display on both the laptop as
well as the external in the correct 1690x1050 resolution

However why does the Fn-F5 key not work and why do I have to kill X and
then go back in ?

Attaching my /var/log/Xorg.0.log
