Public bug reported:
Hi there,
I've got a fresh hardy (kubuntu) installation. I changed to restricted (nvidia)
drivers via jockey_kde producing
the following warning (konsole):
Not loading nvidia_new module; not used in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
WARNING: /sys/module/nvidia_new/drivers does not exist, cannot rebind
nvidia_new driver
-> first jockey anomaly. Not sure what consequences result from that.
I went on by rebooting the system which causes a system freeze (I had to hard
reset my box).
Last three lines of /var/log/messages:
May 31 22:29:26 shark kernel: [ 206.196759] jockey-kde[6834]: segfault at
0000005f eip b6bac6e6 esp bfd52860 error 4
May 31 22:30:46 shark kernel: [ 286.644992] ip6_tables: (C) 2000-2006
Netfilter Core Team
May 31 22:30:49 shark exiting on signal 15
-> second jockey anomaly (which was some minutes after the first, so
there are really 2...)
Afted fixing the X-Configuration (booting in failsafe mode) my X is now running
(without glx-extension and
with a so called "Configured Video Device" (xorg.conf) ... which probably is
vesa) and jockey says "status: in use, but not enabled"
nvidia-glx-new (169.12) is installed
Cheers
Oliver
