Public bug reported:
When I try to update gcc-4.2 and *-4.2 related packages apt tells me
that I need to uninstall most of the necessary packages in Ubuntu.
Versions updated from/to:
----Installed version: 4.2.3-2ubuntu7
----Latest version: 4.2.4-0ubuntu2
It seems to me that the packages that are to be uninstalled are all related to
the Ubuntu-Desktop package.
Some of which are:
apturl
deskbar-applet
gdebi
gedit
gnome-app-install
rhythmbox
update-manager
totem
System info:
Release 8.10 (intrepid), Kernel 2.6.24-17-generic. x86 processor
Steps to reproduce:
1. Have gcc related packages version 4.2.3-2ubuntu7
2. Go to synaptic and search "gcc-4.2"
3. Right click on "gcc-4.2" package and select "mark for upgrade"
What happens:
-The "mark additional required changes: window appears and tells you that you
must install a bunch of packages
What should happen:
It should mark without telling you to uninstall a bunch of packages.
** Affects: gcc-4.2 (Ubuntu)
