got a solution if anyone out there is still interested. the error message is correct:
"update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-16-generic gzip: stdout: No space left on device" it is trying to unpack onto /boot, which, if like mine or the chap above's, is very small and has little space left (eg grub partition), will not have enough room. copy out the older files to a backup somewhere (in this case those from the previous version of ubuntu, ie those with the lower version number than the 2.6.24-16 we are trying to unpack). delete these files and empty deleted items to gain back some space. now try again: sudo dpkg --configure -a good luck all :) hey my first post. -- apt-get dist-upgrade at 08.04.2008 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214097 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
