To downgrade, first you need to download the deb file, in this case from: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/s/sane-backends/ Download at any directory the file libsane_1.0.18-3ubuntu1_i386.deb Then, in a terminal, move to the directory where the file has been downloaded and execute: sudo dpkg -i --force-downgrade libsane_1.0.18-3ubuntu1_i386.deb Good luck.
