The problem occurred when I tried to use the scroll bars when the
magnification was at more than 100%. I tried to get a screen capture,
but the action of switching to another window/application caused the
image to be repainted and the problem went away. I could easily repeat
the problem by scrolling again after the repaint. I included the PDF
URL since it is a very large PDF and that may be one of the required
activators for this problem. I don't think this is a serious problem
since it goes away with the change of focus to another window, and I
will watch to see if any other application behaves this way which might
indicate that the problem is in the display driver code rather than the
PDF application code. I will update by replying to this email again
when I have some more information. I should be able to tr it on another
PC with the same HW, but a slightly different release of Ubuntu.

Thanks,

-John
