I had same problems with 8.04 ubuntu upgrade! went thought bios and check
configed of sound no driver but their ALL were gone!
best answer> is run dual boot with windows for drivers >so ubuntu{ piggy-back}
off windows drivers! run dual widows xp or vista first} than ubuntu second
to piggy-back off the drivers in XP windows! I hope that sum help to you!
