Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-modules-2.6.24-18-386-di

When I unplug the AC Adapter my notebook is so slow, that even scrolling
a simple page in firefox is a slideshow. Im on a ASUS U3S and hardy, the
CPU has 3 Speedsteps, 2.21GHz, 1200MHz and 800 MHz.

Now the strange thing is, while on the AC-Adapter and in 800 MHz Mode,
everything is still smooth and reasonable fast, but on Battery even if I
set the CPU to 2.21GHz it is almost impossible to work due to the system
slowness. It's especially freaky because the system eats up the battery
within 45 minutes but is slow as hell. If its slow its supposed to save
energy, but if its switched to 2.21GHz it shouldn't be that slow. I
really think some kind of software fault is slowing down the whole
machine.

Also the boot up time is pretty slow in general. On the paper the ASUS
U3s is the faster system compared to the DELL M1350, but the DELL boots
hardy within a fraction of the time than the ASUS does.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
