I am using Kubuntu 8.04 on a desktop with the nvidia driver/kernel
module.
dpkg -l *nvidia* | grep ii
gives
ii nvidia-glx 1:96.43.05+2.6.24.13-18.41
NVIDIA binary XFree86 4.x/X.Org driver
ii nvidia-kernel-common 20051028+1ubuntu8
NVIDIA binary kernel module common files
I experience the same problem and have attached
/var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old
It appears that on logout, the screen is set for 1600 by 1200 (whereas I
use 1280 by 1024) and this is somehow never set on logout although it is
on reboot or cold start.
The relevant section in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Device "nVidia Corporation NV17 [GeForce4 MX 440]"
Monitor "CM721F"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600"
"720x400" "640x480"
EndSubSection
EndSection
Should I hand edit it to remove "1600x1200"?
Thanks.
