I can also confirm on a Toshiba laptop. Latest updates (-17 and newer)
break return from suspend. System suspends as usual, then when lid is
lifted the drive powers up but LCD and keyboard does not respond.

Latest kernel upgrade (2.6.24-17 generic) made me lose my suspend feature,
reverted back to 16
