I just tried to reproduce this issue on Open Office 2.4 but was unable
to... When I select a word in parenthesis and format that word, it
doesn't include the bracket unless the bracket is highlighted... Same
with punctuation...
Can you verify that you don't accidentally have the bracket or
punctuation highlighted?
