Same thing here with xen 3.2 and 2.6.24-18-xen on x86_64 with Intel driver.
The screen goes blank, but I can connect via ssh.
The ps command shows kdm as the last process and hangs.
strace shows:

The REALLY interesting line from syslog is:

With vesa-driver everything works fine.
