Hi mike. Thanks for using Ubuntu, and as Alexander implies, Firefox is updated through Ubuntu's package manager. This happens for many reasons, including because it allows us to test the releases before giving them out to an LTS audience (we don't want sudden breakage!), and because often we have Ubuntu-specific patches to apply to packages before releasing them.
RC1 will come in your automatic updates soon, and perhaps RC2 as well. You can download newer versions but I would recommend being patient and using supported software.
