Further information: 5/27/2008: Running from menu provides same screen as previously.
Clicking on "Check" causes everything in the window to dim, and the "spinning cursor" appears. While I thought it locked up at this point, it apparently recovers by itself after n hour or two. However, in the interim it is "locked" solid, and doesn't allow me to close it. I downloaded the latest updates last night, and have just verified that the described action still occurs, when run from the menu and then clicking on Check. 5/28/2008: Today, it's also locking up when I click on "Install Updates" (It said there were 5 updates available). 6/3/2008: While it continues to fail using 2.6.24 -17 (generic), when I rebooted using 2.6.24 -16 (generic) it found and downloaded some 20+ updates. Returning to 2.6.24 -17 (generic), it fails again. I have also found that Symantic Package Manager *ALSO* fails (in the same manner) in 2.6.24 -17 (generic), but works correctly in 2.6.24 -16 (generic). This leads me to suspect that the reported problem is *not* within Update Manager, but instead within some System functionality that *both* _Update Manager_ and _Symantic Package Manager_ call upon. -- Update-manager locks up when "Check" is clicked https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/232082 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
