Public bug reported:
When I try to configure my network manually, i.e. with static ip address, while
no cable is connected my system locks completely. Even SysRQ does not work.
I use Ubuntu 8.04.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Switch the configuration of the network device to Roaming mode (I did this
to copy a file with a zeroconf connection).
2. Disconnect your network cable.
3. Switch your network device to static configuration and hit OK.
4. The system will freeze.
